Mumbai: Sony SAB’s ‘Shrimad Ramayan’ narrates the story of Lord Ram and Sita while spotlighting some of the lesser-known stories of what happens after Lord Ram and Sita unite and return to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile. In the recent episodes, the audiences witnessed the mahayudh between Lord Ram (Sujay Reu) and Raavan (Nikitin Dheer), which was a visual treat, filled with breathtaking battle scenes, showcasing the fight between good and evil.

As the narrative unfolds, the audience will witness a pivotal moment in Lord Ram and Sita's lives. Following Lord Ram's triumphant defeat of Raavan and his joyful reunion with Sita (Prachi Bansal), Raavan's sister Shurpnakha (Sangeeta Odwani) sows seeds of doubt about Sita's character, aiming to drive a wedge between Lord Ram and Sita. This insidious effort suggests that despite Raavan's demise, his evil influence lingers. As Sita approaches Lord Ram, whispers about her character spread among onlookers, including the Vanara sena. This prompts Sita to suggest undergoing an agnipariksha to prove her purity.

Sujay Reu, who plays the role of Lord Ram in Shrimad Ramayan said, "Portraying Lord Ram during such a challenging moment was emotionally intense. Ram’s love for Sita is unwavering, but the circumstances demand that he uphold dharma, even when it’s difficult. It was tough to capture the balance between duty and personal emotion. While the audience knows about the mahayudh between Lord Ram and Raavan, not many people know about the divine couple’s journey hereon. One such unheard story is that it was Shurpnakha who had sown the seed of doubt in Lord Ram’s mind. Going forward, audiences will get to witness similar unheard stories of Ramayan.”

Prachi Bansal, who plays the role of Sita in Shrimad Ramayan said, Performing the agnipariksha scene was incredibly challenging yet rewarding for me as an actor. When I was reading the script I realised that it was Sita who willfully proposed the idea of the agnipariksha. I am sure many people didn’t know about this story and through our show, people will get to know this story. Sita’s strength lies in her grace and conviction, even when faced with doubt and criticism. Bringing that powerful moment to life on screen was a deeply emotional experience."
