Chandigarh: Rotaract Club Chandigarh Shivalik launched Project Green-Smriti on 28th July, 2020 in the memory of brave warriors who sacrificed their lives for our nation and to contribute our part towards the environment. Around 30 new saplings were planted under the project.
Rotaractors planted various plants including Holy basil, Aloe Vera, Mint leaves, Cardamom and Carom seeds. Along with the picture, each member shared the benefits of the sapling they planted which mentioned boosting immunity, improving eyesight, balancing blood sugar and having a positive impact on skin and hair.
Urging everyone to take part in the event, Rtr. Aman Goyal, Event Chairperson and Community Service Director of the club stated, “We kicked out this plantation drive today by planting around 30 saplings. I want to congratulate each member who participated in the event. No experience matches the pleasure of planting saplings with your own hand and then watching it mushroom.”
This is a yearlong project hence rotractors will be sharing the growth of their sapling every quarter of the year. With the success of this event, rotractors not only showed their gratitude to the courageous soldiers but also contributed in improving the environmental condition. The whole project was quite knowledgeable for everyone since they got to know about various health benefits of plants and the role of the environment in maintaining our health. The enthusiasm and efforts of the team made the project a noteworthy event.
