Growing from strength to strength, Radhika Apte continues to rule the roost in the Indian OTT space as the actress was honoured with the Breakthrough Artist Award at the News18.com iReel Awards 2019.
The Bollywood diva is on the back of a Best Actress Nomination at the prestigious Emmy Awards for her commendable performance in Netflix’s ‘Lust Stories’.
News18.com iReel Awards 2019 is the 2nd Edition of the prestigious awards by the leading media platform News18.com that celebrates, honours and recognizes the brightest talent in Indian web series space.
From being an upcoming actress in B-Town to becoming a name to reckon with in the Indian OTT space, it has been a journey to remember for the versatile actress. Her roles have included playing an intelligence agent who tracks down the notorious Gaitonde in ‘Sacred Games’ Season 1. She also aced the role of Kalindi, a professor who gets involved with her student in the critically acclaimed ‘Lust Stories’. Such is her dedication towards each role that she takes up, that Radhika underwent military training for her role in ‘Ghoul’.
Accepting the award from the handsome Rajkumar Rao, Radhika Apte said, “Thank you so much iReel awards. It I feel very honoured to receive such an award. Thank you everyone for giving me the opportunity to work on the OTT platform at a time when it was completely new and unheard of. We now have a platform that continues to churn out better content over a host of diverse genres. And I am so glad it has generated such great opportunities for so many people.”
The other awardees at the gala evening included ‘Delhi Crime’ that scooped the Best Drama Award. While ‘Little Things 2’ was awarded the Award for Best Comedy, Amol Parashar and Pankaj Tripathi took home the trophies for Best Actor (Comedy) and Best Actor (Drama) respectively. Amongst the ladies, Mithila Palkar bagged the award for Best Actress (Comedy) with the highly-talented Shefali Shah took home the award for Best Actress (Drama).
