Rai Sports School, Sonepat being considered for converting into Sports University

Chandigarh, November 18, 2015: Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Mr Anil Vij said that the Rai Sports School, Sonepat is being considered for converting into Sports University. The department has been given directions to explore all the possibilities in this regard.
          Mr Vij said that the need of a Sports University is being felt in the state with a view to provide people with all kinds of sports facilities and complete training. For this, officers of the department have been asked to do comprehensive study so that concrete decision could be taken in this direction.
          The Sports Minister said that the players of the state would be prepared for giving excellent performance in Olympics and would be trained according to the international level standards. Besides this, efforts would be made to solve the problems of players of Olympics and Paralympics level so that they could achieve their target. He said that the previous Congress government was playing only region-biased politics, for which the present state government has ordered inquiry for being biased in providing players with jobs and financial assistance.
          Mr Vij said that the state government is providing training to the players but sports federation selects them for Olympics and other sports competitions. It is required that the two groups, the so-called Sports Federations supported by previous governments in Haryana, should carry out selections according to the guidelines of Indian Olympic Association. The state government is making efforts to become party in the court case which is going on this matter, he added.
          While supporting the statement of the Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal, regarding six months imprisonment to Robert Vadra, the Sports Minister said that the inquiry of the matter has been entrusted to Ayog and appropriate action would be taken after getting its report. He said that the state government is working to provide transparent governance and modern technology is  being used for corruption free government. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
