Raise funds for your Start-up in Investors’ Summit
Chandigarh, August 12, 2024: DST-Technology Enabling Centre (TEC), Panjab University, and Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST) are jointly organizing an Investors’ Summit from 3rd to 5th March 2025. In this Summit, Start-ups will be able to pitch their ideas before investors for funding. From September 2024 to February 2025 (6 months), DST-TEC will conduct series of training sessions for registered participants of the Summit. These training sessions will empower start-up enthusiasts for effectively pitching their Business-plans before investors in March 2025. Summit as well as all training sessions will be conducted in hybrid mode thereby allowing participants to be physically or remotely present. Several assignments would be given to the registered participants so that they are able to nicely understand the business associated with their start-up and are able to prepare compelling Business-plans. Through training sessions and assignments, participants will understand about start-ups, teams, market research, investment requirement, return on investment (RoI), Technology Readiness Level (TRL), Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), Business canvas, Business plan, Pitch deck etc. This Summit will primarily focus on deep technology start-ups and therefore participants would be urged to setup their start-ups around patented technologies available with academia of our nation. Through an assignment, participants would be required to scan websites of IITs, NITs, Universities, PGIs, AIIMs etc and hunt for patents that appear promising to them from business point of view. Subsequently, participants would have to negotiate with inventors of patents shortlisted by them for getting permission to utilize the patents in their proposed start-ups. Participants of the Summit would be allowed to attend Transfer of Technology (ToT) Conference on 22nd and 23rd November 2024. In ToT Conference, scientists from all over the Nation will pitch their patented technologies before Industry. Aim of ToT Conference is to transfer technologies from Academia to the Industry. Participants of Summit would have option to pick technologies for their start-ups from ToT Conference.
Professor Manu Sharma, Coordinator of DST-TEC, said “Many start-ups fail due to engulfment in costly R&D of Technology. We are creating start-ups around patented technologies that are already available with scientists of our Nation, thereby drastically reducing R&D load of a typical start-up. We are getting good response from students as well as faculty. We hope that through this Summit some teachers would also successfully create start-ups around their own patented technologies. Faculty Entrepreneurship policy of Panjab University allows teachers of Panjab University to open their start-ups”. Investors’ Summit is being coordinated by Dr Sadaf Jan, manager of DST-TEC and she is available for guidance on forthcoming Summit in office of DST-TEC located in Guru Tegh Bahadur Bhawan of Panjab University, Chandigarh.
