CALLS UPON YOUTH TO TAKE CUE FROM ELDERS ABOUT LIFE
Ludhiana, January 19, 2019: Former CM and Punjab Planning Board vice chairperson Mrs Rajinder Kaur Bhattal today inaugurated the building of newly constructed Senior Citizen Bhawan in South City area of the city. This Bhawan has been constructed with a cost of Rs 12 lakh by Senior Citizen Welfare Council. MLA Mr Rakesh Pandey was also present on the occasion.
While addressing the gathering, Mrs Bhattal said that the Senior Citizen Society is a very good initiative for elderly people. She said that during earlier times, people used to visit each others houses quiet often, but in today’s time this thing is missing and that is why elderly people are sometimes confined in the boundary of their house. Such initiatives are a great way to bring elderly people out of loneliness so that they can get together and discuss their problems and other issues with their age mates. Besides, they can also put their time to optimum use and show right path to our society, especially youth.
While urging the youth, Mrs Rajinder Kaur Bhattal said that elderly people are a main pillar of our society as they have years of great experiences that can be very useful to the present generation. She said that the youth should take cue from the elderly people for checking social evils prevalent in our society.
She called upon other social organisations to come forward and contribute for the service of society. She also assured all possible support to the society members.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Society President Mr Arun Seth, Secretary Mr Vinod Kumar Mahindra, Councillor Mr Baljinder Singh Sandhu, Mr Jagroop Singh, besides several others.
