Rajya Sabha MP Sant Seechewal inspects Jamalpur STP; conducts meeting with PPCB and MC officials
Reiterating the commitment of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) S.Bhagwant Singh Mann led state government to clean the water bodies across the state, Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal inspected the working of 225 MLD sewer treatment plant (STP), Jamalpur on Tuesday.
Ludhiana, February 13, 2024: Reiterating the commitment of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) S.Bhagwant Singh Mann led state government to clean the water bodies across the state, Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal inspected the working of 225 MLD sewer treatment plant (STP), Jamalpur on Tuesday.
Displaying satisfaction over finding 'Buddha Dariya' water with a 174 TDS level near Jaiswal complex (outside city limits) on Tajpur road, MP Seechewal stated that similar or even better results can be achieved at each point of the 'Buddha Dariya' which also holds historic and religious importance.
Conducting an inspection alongside 'Buddha Dariya' on Tajpur road, MP Seechewal directed the authorities to take strict action against all the violators who are caught polluting the 'Buddha Dariya', be it industry, dairy owners or any other.
Appreciating the results of STP Jamalpur after inspecting the treated water at the outlet point of the plant, MP Seechewal said that they are not against the industry or dairy units, but the owners of these units should comply with the norms of Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB). No one will be allowed to pollute the 'Buddha Dariya' and strict action will be taken against the violators.
Moving forward with the plantation drive which was launched by him on the banks of 'Buddha Dariya' near Gurdwara Gau Ghat on February 2, MP Seechewal said that plantation drives would be held on the banks of 'Buddha Dariya' in phases and people should become a part of this campaign at large.
'Buddha Dariya' also holds religious importance as Guru Nanak Dev Ji visited the Dariya site near Gurdwara Gau Ghat. Guru Nanak Dev ji also stressed upon keeping the environment clean. Everyone should step forward and perform their duties to keep the environment and water bodies clean for our future generations, added MP Seechewal.
MC Zonal Commissioner (Zone B) Neeraj Jain, PPCB Chief Engineer Pardeep Gupta, MC Executive Engineer Ranbir Singh, Hardev Singh Daudar among others were also present on the occasion.
