Rajya Sabha MP Seechewal directs officials to speed up setting-up of biogas plants in Haibowal and Tajpur road dairy complexes
Rajya Sabha MP Balbir Singh Seechewal visited different 'Buddha Dariya' sites in the district on Friday and directed the officials to expedite the work of setting-up biogas plants in Tajpur road and Haibowal dairy complexes to stop dumping of cow dung in 'Buddha Dariya'. Cow dung is used to make biogas in the plants.
Ludhiana, October 11, 2024: Rajya Sabha MP Balbir Singh Seechewal visited different 'Buddha Dariya' sites in the district on Friday and directed the officials to expedite the work of setting-up biogas plants in Tajpur road and Haibowal dairy complexes to stop dumping of cow dung in 'Buddha Dariya'. Cow dung is used to make biogas in the plants.
Reiterating the commitment of Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab Government to clean 'Buddha Dariya', MP Seechewal directed the officials to spread awareness among dairy unit owners to stop dumping cow dung in the Buddha Dariya. Strict action should also be taken against erring dairy units.
Accompanied by the officials of district administration, PPCB, civic body among others, MP Seechewal also visited the under construction bridge site over 'Buddha Dariya' in village Bhukhri. The officials were directed to expedite the construction works and make temporary arrangements for facilitating the villagers in crossing the 'Dariya', so that they should not face any problem in harvesting their crops.
Further, the officials were also directed to ensure regular release of 200 cusecs of fresh water in 'Buddha Dariya' for reducing pollution levels in the Dariya.
MP Seechewal further directed the concerned officials to remove encroachments alongside the Dariya to facilitate plantation drives. Earlier MP Seechewal had launched a major plantation drive from the 'Buddha Dariya' site near Gurudwara Gau Ghat Sahib. Guru Nanak Dev Ji had visited the said site due to which it also holds historical and religious importance.
MP Seechewal said that he has also taken up the matter of expediting the process of setting up biogas plants in dairy complexes with the senior officials in Chandigarh. One biogas plant is already operational in Haibowal dairy complex, while steps are being taken to set up an additional plant in Haibowal dairy complex and for setting up one plant in Tajpur road dairy complex. MP Seechewal said that the residents should also support the authorities in reducing pollution in the nullah. He also appealed to the residents to participate in plantation drives being taken up alongside the Dariya.
