Ramgarhia Girls College celebrates lohri with fervour
Ludhiana, January 13, 2024: Ramgarhia Girls College celebrates lohri with fervour* Ramgarhia Girls College organized "Lohri for the Girl Child" on its premises to emphasise that one should strive to create a gender-just society. Celebration started with the lighting of the bonfire by the president of the college accompanied by Offg. Principal Prof. Jaspaul Kaur and faculty members, after which sesame sweets and ground nuts were distributed among the students. The mood was upbeat and all the students immersed themselves in the festive spirit of Lohri. Students had a gala time as they danced around the bonfire and offered prayers for the well being of everyone. Students of PG. Dept. Of Music sang folklore of Punjab which was enjoyed by all.
Ranjodh Singh, President, Ramgarhia Educational Council congratulated everyone and averred that the society is progressing day by day and in present scenario gender discrimination should be completely put to an end. Boys and girls should be given equal opportunities for growth and one should strive to create a just society and there can not be a better occasion than Lohri to spread awareness.
Offg. Principal Prof. Jaspaul Kaur conveyed her wishes and said that Lohri is not just a celebration of one festival, it is celebration of life. Thus, people residing in Punjab attach a great significance to Lohri, the festival of feasts and foods.
Gurcharan Singh Lotey, General Secretary, Ramgarhia Educational Council, commented that lohri sets the tone for the entire year and wished everone a fruitful year ahead.
On this day, Artist Sukhpreet Singh, Chris Mooney Singh, Poet, Painter and Musician, and his wife Surinder Kaur also graced the occasion.
