RANDOMISATION OF EVM’S DONE IN PRESENCE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF POLITICAL PARTIES
RANDOMISATION DONE FOR VIDHAN SABHA CONSTITUENCY WISE ALLOTMENT OF EVM’S Ludhiana, March 30, 2019: In view of the upcoming Lok Sabha 2019 elections, Vidhan Sabha constituency wise randomisation of electronic voting machines (EVM’s) was held today. Today’s randomisation of EVM’s was done in the presence of Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal and a large number of representatives of political parties were also present. Mr Agrawal informed that polling booths have been set up in all Vidhan Sabha constituencies of the district, where VVPAT machines along with the EVM’s would be installed. He informed that during the first phase randomisation, equal number of EVM’s and VVPAT machines (same as total number of polling booths), 15% CU, 15% BU, 20% additional VVPAT machines have been kept in case any machine malfunctions, it can be replaced immediately. The District Election Officer Ludhiana informed that after the completion of randomisation process at District Election Office, the EVM’s in the district would be shifted to the strong rooms by respective Assistant Returning Officers (ARO’s) in their areas. A presentation regarding EVM’s and VVPAT machines was also given to the representatives of the political parties. The representatives were informed that the polled vote can be checked for 7 seconds in the VVPAT machine. Prominent among those present on the occasion included Mr Pragan Bilga and Mr Buta Singh Sangowal from Bahujan Samaj Party, Mr Chamkaur Singh from CPI, Mr Harnek Singh from AAP, Mr Ranjit Singh Dhillon from Shiromani Akali Dal, Mr Vinod Bharti from Indian National Congress, Mr Arun Sidhu from NCP and Mr Parminder Mittal from BJP, besides several others.
