Rang De Basanti (RDB) motorcycle ride which is an annual edition of 'Thumpers Group' - a bikers' group of tricity , was flagged off today.
Mohali, March 21, 2022: Rang De Basanti(RDB) motorcycle ride which is an annual edition of 'Thumpers Group' - a bikers' group of tricity , was flagged off by Ashok Thapar and Tribhuvan Thapar who are from the family of Shaheed Sukhdev. The duo was joined by Hemant Jindal, Umang Jindal and Puneet Bhandari from Homeland Group and Pankaj Sethi in the flagging off of the ride. The bike ride started from CP 67 Mohali and culminated at Khatkar Kalan, the ancestral hometown of Shaheed Bhagat Singh located in Shaheed Bhagat singh Nagar at a distance of about 100 Kms from Chandigarh.
The RDB ride is an event that is organised as a tribute to the legendary trio Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru, to coincide with the martyrdom day of the trio, which is observed on Mar 23. The aim of this event is to remember the heroic martyrs and to reiterate the pledge of eradicating the menace of drugs amongst youth.
"This ride was held to remember the heroes who selflessly fought for the nation against all that was unjust. They took up cudgels against the evil designs of the British," said Hemant Jindal.
"The idea behind RDB ride was also to motivate our youth to fight against the rising problem of drugs that is eating into the vitals of Punjab and even other parts of the country," said Umang Jindal.
More than 200 bikers and people from the tricity came together to stand for the common motive. The ride ended at Khatkar Kalan where more than 500 bikers came together for the cause. The numbers of bikers increased as bikers from other parts of India too took part and reached Khatkar Kalan from their respective locations.
Puneet Bhandari said , "The aim of the RDB ride was also to motivate youth towards creating an India as was envisioned by our martyrs who are true heroes."
Thumpers Group that organised the ride in collaboration with the Homeland Group - a renowned real estate player of the region, is the biggest riding group in the tri-city which comprises Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula and has hundreds of riders from various professional fields as its members.
"This ride is the symbol of the true spirit of comradeship. We as a group work together for important causes like nation building, creating unity in the country and in fighting against the common evil of drugs," said Munish Soni from Thumpers Group.
"Our heroes sacrificed their lives for the freedom of India, yet the youth of our nation is still getting entangled in the clutches of drugs. We will not let the sacrifice of our heroes go in vain. The Rang De Basanti ride is our initiative to create an awareness among the youth of our country to discard drugs and revive 'inqalaab'," said Kushal from Homeland Group.
