Ranike asks Punjab youths to adopt subsidiary occupations for self employment

Chandigarh, October 21, 2013: Gulzar Singh Ranike, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development Minister, Punjab today asked the youths of Punjab to adopt subsidiary occupations for self employment. 

While addressing the meeting of Sate Advisory Committee of Animal Husbandry Department, the Minister said that Presently Animal Husbandry was contributing nearly 13 percent in the GDP of State, which further has a great scope of expansion. He said that to assist the youth for subsidiary occupations like Dairy farming, Fisheries and Piggery, The Punjab Government has decided to organize special training camps, especially in rural areas for youth.

The Minister has also directed the higher officials to personally monitor the functioning of recently established 100 goat units with the cost of 85 Lakh for training across the state.

To prevent the animals from foot and mouth disease, The Minister has also asked the officials to initiate a campaign. The officials informed the Minister that during 2012-13 the department has completed a vaccination campaign in which 201.17 lakh vaccines have been vaccinated.

The prominent amongst present in the meeting included non officio members Ranjit Singh Dhillon, Mr Manpreet Singh Iyali, Janab Mohamad Sadeeq and Harchand Kaur All MLAs. Besides that Financial Commissioner Animal Husbandry Dr G Vajralingam, Director Animal Husbandry H.S.Sandha, Director Dairy Inderjeet singh and Director Fishery B.K.Sood were also present in the meeting. www.cityairnews.com
