Forearm operated handles on compartment doors in AC coaches have bbeen fixed to curtail the danger of deadly Covid.
All coaches have been endowed with Copper coated handrails and latches. Copper has anti microbial properties and hence it degrades the virus landed on it within few hours .
Provision of plasma air equipment has been made in AC ducts of AC coaches .Through this, sterilization of air and surfaces inside the AC coach is done by using ionised air which makes the coach Covid-19 and particulate matter resistant .
Nano coated Titanium dioxide coating has been applied on these Post Covid coaches which is eco-friendly water based coating that kills viruses, bacteria, mould and fungal growth and also more importantly enhances indoor air quality. Titanium dioxide is considered to be a safe substance and is harmless to humans. This coating is applied on washbasins, lavatory, seats and berths , snack tables, glass window, floor, and virtually every surface that comes in human contact.
Besides, stickers have been pasted at several places in coaches as a constant reminder to passengers to observe precautionary measures against the virus.
These coaches may prove a shining beacon in passenger transportation and help out in fighting out the deadly menace of coronavirus. (Rajat Kumar, Jalandhar)
