Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare officially included Acupuncture under National Commission for Allied System of Healthcare after passing the notification and published Gazette of India No.3880 dated September 26 for Acupuncture professional. This landmark decision marks a significant milestone for the acupuncture community, providing formal acknowledgment of its value and effectiveness in the healthcare landscape.

Ludhiana, September 29, 2024: Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare officially included Acupuncture under National Commission for Allied System of Healthcare after passing the notification and published Gazette of India No.3880 dated September 26 for Acupuncture professional. This landmark decision marks a significant milestone for the acupuncture community, providing formal acknowledgment of its value and effectiveness in the healthcare landscape.

Prominent acupuncture practitioners, including Dr. Inderjit Singh Dhingra, Director of Dr. Kotnis Acupuncture Hospital in Ludhiana; Dr. Raman Kapur, Padma Shri Awardee New Delhi; and Dr. Anish Gupta, Senior Acupuncturist Rajasthan, have expressed their support for this progressive step by the government. Dr. Dhingra specifically thanked J.P. Nadda Health Minister  for making this recognition possible. He emphasized that with this official inclusion the vision of PM SH Narendra Modi of providing better to citizens with traditional medicine will be boosted. He thanked the government for understanding the importance for the acupuncture community also.

With this recognition, plans are underway to establish a governing council for acupuncture, which will oversee the development of degree and diploma programs. These educational initiatives will enhance the training of practitioners, ensuring high standards in the practice of acupuncture across the country.

The acknowledgment of acupuncture is expected to benefit the public significantly, as it is a drug-free therapy known for its efficacy in treating various conditions, including musculoskeletal disorders, anxiety, migraines, digestive issues, and respiratory problems. This integration into the formal healthcare system will promote overall wellness and health, providing holistic treatment options for a broader range of ailments.

This notification follows a 2018 letter advocating for the recognition of acupuncture, highlighting the sustained efforts of the acupuncture community to achieve this goal. This way every Acupuncturist get registered and got legal status.
