Record enrolment of other state students in Punjab Technical Education Institutions expected

Jalandhar/Kapurthala, August 29, 2022: Technical education institutions of Punjab are getting high response over open admissions at various levels. There is a high interest count of other state students during admissions in this academic year 2022-23. The Technical Education institutions are admitting students under various diploma schemes, Bachelor & Masters degree level programmes. So far the facts are that there is an increase in the trend of admissions of students from other states and it is hoped that the final round of admissions, which will be held by the end of September will be recorded as a high number of other state students in various technical courses.

Rahul Bhandari, Principal Secretary, Technical Education and Industrial Training Department, has reviewed the statistics on the ongoing admissions in various technical education institutions of Punjab. Worth to mention that Sh. Rahul Bhandari, Principal Secretary Technical Education Punjab, is also the Chairman of the Technical Education Board and the Vice-Chancellor of I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU).

He shared that for the admissions in courses B.Tech First Year, B.Tech Literal Entry, B.Tech. Pharmacy First Year, B. Architecture, M.Tech, MBA and MCA, IKGPTU is conducting Centralized online counselling. In this counselling, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Technical University Bathinda & its affiliated colleges, Punjab Agriculture University Ludhiana & IKGPTU are participating for admissions on their various courses seats. He expressed satisfaction that the students from other states such Bihar, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal are showing their interest & taking admission in Punjab Technical Education Institutions. As per the second phase of counselling schedule for these admissions, registration and fee deposit for counselling will start from 31st August 2022 to 01st September 2022. The ranks will be prepared by September 02. College selection by students will be done from 03 September 2022 to 05 September 2022. The university will release the counselling result on 06-09-2022.

According to the admission data for the first round of counselling, pre-registration and free registration, students from Bihar state, then Uttar Pradesh and then Himachal Pradesh have shown interest in graduation & post graduation level admissions in Punjab. Also, students from Assam, North East and Jharkhand have contacted the university for their admission.

Admissions in Lateral Entry Courses in Second Year in Three Year Diploma Engineering, Diploma in Modern Office Practice (MOP), Two Year Diploma in Pharmacy and Three Year Diploma in Engineering by Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training the online process is being run. Under which admissions are being made in various institutions of Punjab.

It is worth mentioning that there are currently 02 state technical universities, 02 campus universities (non-affiliating) in Punjab, including Maharaja Ranjit Singh Technical University Bathinda, I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University Jalandhar-Kapurthala and two campus universities Shaheed Bhagat Singh University Ferozepur and Sardar Beant Singh University Gurdaspur. ! The faculty in all these universities have PhD qualification and international level experience! Also the infrastructure is world class! There is one Government Engineering College, 72 Private Engineering Colleges, 25 Government Polytechnic Colleges, 104 Private Polytechnic Colleges and about 350 Industrial Training Institutes in Punjab. 

Bhandari appealed to all the technical education institutions of the state to work together to facilitate the other state students. Giving the message to students, parents about the capacity of state technical institutions, Bhandari said that the faculty, officials with infrastructure of the educational institutions and the very comfortable environment of Punjab, is ready to welcome all state students in Punjab for their higher study dreams. He delivered this message during the meetings with various committees. He invite all with words that Let's participate together in taking the Technical Educational Institutions of Punjab ahead of other states. 

"All necessary facilities are available in state Universities, Colleges, Polytechnics, ITIs and training institutes for the best grooming of young minds," he added.  He encouraged the students of Punjab and other states for admissions while praising the student-friendly environment created by having higher education institutions of national-international level in the state of Punjab. Principal Secretary Rahul Bhandari, has appealed to the Chairman, Director of all technical institutes of the state to work together for quality admissions.
