Record manufacturing of 1901 coaches in the FY 2023-24 by RCF  Kapurthala

Kapurthala, April 2, 2024: Employees of Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala have shown amazing work efficiency in setting the record of highest annual coach production by manufacturing 1901 coaches in the year 2023-24.

Also,  RCF has achieved the highest ever monthly production of  producing 207 coaches and 208 shells in March 2024. Over the past fiscal, RCF has gained special recognition in the country by manufacturing several new products, including 3 Phase MEMU coaches running on the electrified track of Kashmir Valley and Rajdhani coaches for the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla section.  

This year, RCF has not only manufactured the highest ever 41 rakes of 3 Phase MEMU coaches, but has also registered an increase of 64% as compared to last year's production of 25 rakes of 3 Phase MEMU coaches.

It is also worth noting that in the year 2023-24, 1217 AC coaches including 734 AC three-tier economy coaches were manufactured in RCF. The Non-AC class includes 216 LHB sleeper, 98 Deen Dayalu and 316 3PH MEMU coaches. RCF recorded a growth of 15% in the year 2023-24 as against the production of 1651 coaches in the year 2022-23.

Infrastructure has also been expanded to accommodate the increased production of coaches, including Vande Bharat Coach Shed.

Apart from several achievements in coach manufacturing, RCF has achieved the best ever turnover ratio with a record issue of Rs 4301 crore in the year 2023-24. In scrap sale, a record scrap sale worth Rs 21.48 crore has been achieved in RCF, surpassing the target of Rs 20 crore given by Railway Board.

On this occasion, RCF General Manager S.Srinivas while congratulating the employees said that in this financial year we have to take the coach manufacturing figure beyond 2500 and achieving this target is not a difficult task. In new fiscal, RCF is to manufacture new coaches for Vande Metro, Vande Bharat Sleeper, High Speed Self Propelled Accident Relief Train, Self Propelled Inspection Car and Amrit Bharat Trains.

Srinivas expressed confidence that RCF with its technical skills and determination will achieve  this target  within the stipulated time.
