Regional Saras Mela 2023: Prominent artists to showcase glimpses of Punjabi culture- Additional Deputy Commissioner 

Ludhiana, October 16, 2023: Under the direction of Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Surbhi Malik, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development)-cum-Mela Officer Rupinder Pal Singh today interacted with media wherein he called for maximum publicity and coverage of the famous SARAS (Sale of Articles of Rural Artisans Society) Mela being organized from October 27 to November 5, 2023 at the campus of Punjab Agricultural University, here.

On this occasion, Assistant Mela Officer Navneet Joshi, District Program Officer Amritpal Singh, besides other senior officials were also present. 

Additional Deputy Commissioner while addressing the media persons here at Bachat Bhawan said that it was a matter of immenseproude that artisans and artists from across 20 states will participate in this Regional Saras Mela.

It was for the third time that this mega event would be held in the city of Ludhiana wherein artists from different states will present glimpses of their culture and heritage to the people during this 10-day program, he added.

He also said that the mela will start with Kavi Darbaar which will be presided over by eminent literary Surjit Patar. Likewise, Shiromani Poet Professor Gurbhajan Gill will be the special guest of the event.  During the 10-day mela, the shining stars of the music industry will grace the fair with their songs. 

The ADC said that the district administration has already started the preparation of this gala event as officials from different departments have been entrusted with various roles and responsibilities to carry out this task. 

He further stated that for smooth conduct of the event, different committees have been formed including site planning, security, stalls, traffic, parking, health, hospitality, traffic movement, fire brigade, cultural events, artists, coordination, IT wing, campaign, accommodation, first aid, decoration, vvip, electricity, etc. 

He further added that nodal officers would be deployed for duty pass, control room, refreshment, decoration, swings, discipline, registration, and others.
