Ludhiana, April 13, 2023: MP (Rajya Sabha) Sanjeev Arora has remembered the tragic Jallianwala Bagh Massacre.
In a statement here today, he said, “On this day, we remember the tragic event in Indian history known as the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. On April 13, 1919, British troops fired upon a peaceful gathering of unarmed Indian civilians who had gathered at Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar to protest British rule.”
Adding, he said this act of violence resulted in the deaths of hundreds of men, women, and children, and left many more injured. The Jallianwala Bagh Massacre was a turning point in India's struggle for independence, and it continues to serve as a reminder of the injustices suffered by the Indian people under colonial rule.
“As we reflect on this day, let us Honour the memory of those who lost their lives and reaffirm our commitment to the values of freedom, justice, and equality for all”, he said.
Arora said, “We shall continue to work towards a world where such acts of violence and oppression are never repeated, and where all people can live in peace and dignity.”
He said real tribute to martyrs is to maintain peace, unity, and integrity of the country, adding that Punjab Government under leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhagwant Mann is committed for this cause. He added the Punjab government will not allow anyone to harm peace in the state.
