Renowned media teacher Dr. Satnam Singh underlines the importance of critical thinking in Fact Shala workshop at MDU
Underlining the importance of media literacy in today's era of information explosion and the importance of fact checking of content available in various media, a workshop was organized in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, MDU under the aegis of Fact Shala University Network.

Rohtak, March 5, 2025: Underlining the importance of media literacy in today's era of information explosion and the importance of fact checking of content available in various media, a workshop was organized in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, MDU under the aegis of Fact Shala University Network.
Dr. Satnam Singh, renowned Fact Shala trainer, media teacher and MDU alumnus, conducted the workshop on the topic of Media Literacy and Critical Thinking. Dr. Satnam Singh described media literacy as the need of the hour. He also underlined the importance of critical thinking. In his presentation, Dr. Satnam Singh explained media literacy, critical thinking, fact checking, countering, disinformation and misinformation with examples. He also conducted a quiz in the workshop.
While presiding over the workshop, HOD Prof. Harish Kumar said that this workshop on media literacy will establish new dimensions in this university established in the name of the great social reformer Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati.
Professor Sunit Mukherjee gave the welcome address. Mukherjee said that in today's post-truth era, it is very important to have strong facts. Dissemination of information and news without checking the truth is unethical, wrong and undesirable.
Abstract compilation and vote of thanks was done by Dr. Naveen Kumar. He termed fact checking in electronic and digital media as very important. Assistant Professor Dr. Meenu of Government PG Nehru College, Jhajjar, Assistant Professor Dr. Sumit of Lal Nath Hindu College, Dr. Dayanand Kadian, research scholars and students participated in the workshop.
