A report on latest edition of alumni meet of Lyallpur Khalsa College
Jalandhar, December 6, 2019: The latest edition of the Alumni Meet of Lyallpur Khalsa College marking the 81st Birth Anniversary of Late Sardar Babir Singh, former Member Parliament, former Cabinet Minister, Punjab and former President of College Governing Council, surpassed all the previous editions virtue of its vigour and association. Dr SPS Virk, Founder, Virk Hospital Jalandhar was the special chief guest on this momentous occasion. The president of the College Governing Council, Sardarni Balbir Kaur and College Principal Dr.Gurpinder Singh Samra warmly welcomed the chief guest with a bouquet of flowers. Speaking on the occasion, College Principal Dr.Gurpinder Singh Samra said that the institution owed a lot to the visionary guidance of Sardar Balbir Singh for its current status and also mentioned the fact that Lyallpur Khalsa College is the only institution in North India with a Governing Council mostly comprising of its old students. He also lauded the noteworthy contribution of the former students for the college's recognition on National as well as International level. In his address, Chief Guest Dr SPS Virk proudly connected his achievements to the college and his honour to be associated with such a magnificent institution. He also appreciated the college's immense commitment laden association to its former students. This was followed by the main attraction of the evening 'Dhamaka by Young and Forever Young' put forth by the former students of the college, now serving the institution as staff members in various departments, namely Prof. Jasreen Kaur, Prof. Arunjit Kaur, Prof. Suman Chopra, Prof. Manmeet Sodhi, Prof. Patwant Atwal, Prof. Geetanjali Moudgil, Prof. Gitanjali Mahajan, Prof. Tarsem Singh, Prof. Gagandeep Singh, Prof. Dinkar Sharma, Prof. Palwinder Singh, Prof. Surinder Mand, Prof. Gulzar Singh, Mr. Surinder Kumar and this entire contingent was duly led from the front by College Principal Dr Gurpinder Singh Samra. Other alumnus also expressed themselves through presentations such as Songs, Group Dance and Poetry recitation whilst also reliving their college experiences from the past. The stage on this occasion was conducted by Dr Surinderpal Mand. Among distinguished people present were S. Jaspal Singh Waraich, Joint Secretary Governing Council, S. Jagdeep Singh Shergill, S. Bhupinder Singh Mann (Member Governing Council), Dawinder Dyalpuri along with the staff members and other acquaintances of the college. Prof. Sanjeev Anand, Coordinator of the Alumni Association event, formally thanked the assembled guests.
