Report on PU Senate Meeting held on June 6, 2023

Chandigarh, June 3, 2023: Panjab University in its Senate meeting held today deliberated on all the agenda items and few of them are as follows:-

The Senate unanimously elected Prof. Jagat Bhushan, as  representative of the University as a member of the Dental Council of India, under Section 3(d) of the Dentists’ Act, 1948

The Senate unanimously approved the Adoption/Approval of UGC Guidelines for Curriculum and Credit Framework for Undergraduate Programmes aligned with NEP- 2020 from the academic session 2023-2024 in Panjab University and it will be implemented in  the Colleges from the academic session 2024-2025.

The Senate approved the recommendation of the Regulations Committee dated 22.04.2023 that the Regulations for 4 year Undergraduate Honours Programmes, under NEP 2020 framework.

The Senate approved the recommendations (2, 4 and 5) of the Committee dated 17.01.2023, that Regulations/Rules for BHMS framed in accordance with Gazette Notification dated 06.12.2022.

The Senate approved the following:-
(i) Adoption of National Academic Depository (NAD)-Digilocker, in
totality along with Degree Templates of UG and PG courses.

(ii) Implementation of Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) under Digilocker frame work as per Communications received from UGC.
(iii) Recommendations of the Committee dated 11.08.2022 to resolve the issue of different degree templates available on NAD-Digilocker not matching with degree templates of Panjab University.

The Senate approved the template for appointment of Assistant Professors, Associate Professors, Professors in i.e. Private Aided Colleges and Unaided Private Colleges

The Senate also approved the Minutes of the Committee meeting dated 27.02.2023 to look into the issue regarding release of Enhanced Salary in pursuance of CAS promotions under 4th Amendment of UGC Regulation 2010

The Senate approved the assignment of faculties to Professor Rumina Sethi, Dean of University Instruction

The Senate approved the minutes of the Student Aid Fund Administrative Committee dated 09.03.2023 with regard to the applications of eligible students of teaching departments/VVBIS & IS, Hoshiarpur and U.S.O.L.

The Senate approved the minutes of the Committee dated 13.03.2023 to frame general policy to give a general interpretation of clarification of clause 6.4 (Ph.D. Guidelines, 2016) from UGC vide letter No. F.9-1/2020 (PS/Misc.) dated 03.02.2023

The Senate approved the minutes of the College Development Council dated 27.12.2022

The Senate approved the recommendation of the Committee dated 15.03.2023 and 16.03.2023, that the Panjab University Ph.D. guidelines formulated in accordance with U.G.C. Minimum Standards and Procedure for award of Ph.D. degree Regulations 2022

The Senate approved the introduction of M.Voc. (Fashion Technology and Apparel Design) (Semester System) from the academic session 2021-22 as per recommendation (No.3) of the Committee dated 01.11.2022

The Senate approved the discontinuation of M.Ed. course, at Sant Baba Bhag Singh Memorial Girls College of Education, V.P.O. Sukhanand, Moga, from the academic session 2023-24

The Senate approved the discontinuation of Music (Vocal)-Elective subject at B.A. level at S.D. College for Women, 3, Jawahar Nagar, Moga, Punjab, from the session 2023-24

The Senate approved the adoption of letter No.F25-1/2018(PS/MISC.) dated 28.01.2019 of Secretary, University Grant Commission regarding revised guidelines for enhancement of honorarium of Guest Faculty.

The Senate approved the minutes of the Affiliation Committee dated 04.02.2023 with regard to grant of temporary extension of affiliation in the course/s/subject/s to the Colleges situated in the Punjab State, for the session 2022-2023
The Senate approved the grant of extension of affiliation, to Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial College of Education, Dhudike, Tehsil & Distt. Moga (Pb.), for M.Ed. Course, for the session 2022-23

The Senate approved the recommendations of the Board of Finance dated 10.04.2023 (minutes of BOF in separate volume

The Senate approved the recommendation of the Regulations Committee dated 16.05.2023 that the Regulations for following 4-year Undergraduate Honours Programmes, under NEP, 2020 framework to be introduced from the academic session 2023-24

The Senate approved the recommendation of the Committee dated 22.05.2023, constituted by the Vice-Chancellor to discuss the fee structure (Tuition fee and other University Charges) in University Teaching Departments and its Regional Centres/Constituent Colleges, for the session 2023-24

The Senate approved the recommendation of the Committee dated 05.05.2023, with regard to finalize the template for appointment of Assistant Professors, Associate Professors, Professors, Principal for Direct Recruitment and CAS Promotion for Aided/Unaided Colleges in Punjab/UT Chandigarh
