Chandigarh, January 27, 2022: Govt. College of Yoga Education and Health, Sector 23 A, Chandigarh celebrated the 73rd Republic Day in the college with great zeal and the enthusiasm. Dr. Sapna Nanda, Principal of the college welcomed the Chief Guest Jagjit Singh, PCS, Director Higher Education, U.T. Administration, Chandigarh and in pursuit of spreading the awareness for conservation of environment tree plantation campaign was held in the college premises. The Principal while addressing the audience emphasized that one should bring about the change that the constitution had intended at its inception and we must reaffirm our commitment to unity in diversity, fraternity and equality among all our citizens.
The celebrations of this National Day of Pride commenced with flag unfurling ceremony by the Chief Guest and faculty members followed by the National Anthem. In his presidential address the Chief Guest spoke at large about the importance of the Republic Day and motivated everyone that patriotism should be infused in everyday of our life. He also stressed upon the need of imbibing Yoga in daily lives especially during the ongoing Omicron threat and advised everyone to respect the sacrifices of the Freedom Fighters, the contribution of younger generation for the implementation of new ideas for the betterment of the Society.
As part of the 75 crore Surya Namaskara initiative launched by the Ministry of AYUSH, the students of the college performed Sun Salutations to create a culture of fitness and promote healthy lifestyle through Yoga. This was followed by soul stirring patriotic dance and song performances which evoked the feelings of love for motherland in everyone. Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Gunanidhi Sharma.
