Republic Day celebrated at Panjab University
Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh celebrated the Republic Day with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm at the University campus.
Chandigarh, January 27, 2023: Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh celebrated the Republic Day with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm at the University campus.
PU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Renu Vig was the Chief Guest of the function. She unfurled the national flag at the Parade Ground. It was followed by the inspection of the Guard of Honour comprising the contingents of PU Security Staff, PU NCC boys & Girls cadets, NSS, Ankur School and Guru Gobind Singh Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Ratwara Sahib.
While felicitating the gathering, Prof Vig in her key note address, reminded the sacrifices and struggles of forefathers and paid respect to the great leaders who have guided the nation on the path of progress. She urged all to work together to build a stronger, more prosperous and more just India for all. She also highlighted various achievements of the University and inspired the faculty to work for the improvement of University.
Earlier, Prof. Y.P.Verma, Registrar, PU in his welcome address, urged all to work for the betterment of Panjab University and take University to the greater heights.
On this occasion, PU employees namely Chander Mohan, Krishna Kumari, Yuvraj, Pawan Kumar, Rajan, Bharti Chomali, Mukhtiar Singh, Rajender Singh, Gurpreet Kaur, Neppal Kumar, Paramjit Chand, Anup Kumar Randhawa, Neelam Devi, Devinder Singh, Harchand Singh and Rajesh Kumar were felicitated with cash award, commendation certificate and memento in recognition of their distinguished services.
University also honoured the employees namely Rajan Sharma, Jai Gopal, Bir Singh, Sukhminder Singh, Krishan Sethi, Manish Kumar, Virendera Singh, Ramesh Kumar Jain, Nirmal Singh, Rajinder Kumar, Inderjeet Kaur, Devinder Singh, Vanita Rani, Jagjeet Kumar, Lucky, Rabinder Kumar, Sukhwinder Singh, Bansi Lal, Parveen Kumar Mandal, Sandeep, Mandeep, Jaspal Kaur and Sanjeev Kumar.
Colourful cultural program enthralled the audience. It started with a patriotic song by the students of PU Music Department. It was followed by Dance by students of Ankur School and Punjabi Dance Bhangra by GGSVM Sr. Sec. School, Ratwara Sahib.
All senior officials of PU, Senate and Syndicate members, PUTA President, faculty, students and their families were present on the occasion.
