Reviving India’s lost dishes, CT University organises Star Chef India Season-1

Ludhiana: School of Hotel Management, Airlines and Tourism, CT University organized Star Chef India-an Online Cooking Competition Season-1 in association with Chefs Association of Five Rivers. The primary objective of the event was to focus on revival of Indian lost dishes and to inculcate the ideas of modern food plating and further to fill people with positive energy.

There were total 256 entries received for preliminary round and out of that, 65 entries were selected in the first round from across India. Top 20 participants were selected for the second round and cooked live on Facebook. In the third round, the top 5 selected participants performed virtual cooking through Zoom and Facebook Live.

The celebrity Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi performed the role of chief jury and he declared the results in Finale. He mentioned that the initiative of CT University has shared a lot of cooking recipes to the entire country.  The other eminent Chefs, Chef Ajay Sood, Chef Dr Izzat Hussain, Chef Vinod kumar Bhatti, Chef Nellu Kaura, Chef Rahul Wali and Chef Ashish Bhasin evaluated the dishes of all participants and finalized the winners. Isha Sherawat became the winner of first star Chef India and Preeti Mundra (Second), and Shikha Pole (Third) got runner up positions.

This mega event of four months duration was sponsored by Chef Kala, Cates, Cornitos and Events ‘Just Abhi’. Lot of old dishes were presented by the participants. This event has created a bench mark in culinary competitions. More than 15 Professional chefs became the part of this event as Jury.

Dr (Chef) Varinder Singh Rana, Dean-School of Hotel Management, Airlines and Tourism mentioned that this event was truly associated with the roots of Indian cooking. The basic food has all the nutritional values and during these times we need the food that was pure and ideal for eating.
