Ludhiana, April 6, 2025: RG Marathon 6.0 marked its powerful return to Punjab for the second consecutive year, setting the city abuzz with energy, enthusiasm, and a collective commitment to fitness. With an overwhelming turnout of over 18,000 registrations, the marathon stands as one of the region’s largest health and wellness events, reinforcing RG Hospitals’ vision of inspiring communities towards a healthier lifestyle.

As early as 5:00 AM, participants began gathering in high spirits, warming up with an electrifying Zumba session led by Crush Fitness India. This was followed by a series of flag-offs: the 5 KM run commenced at 5:20 AM for Group A and B, followed by Group C and D at 5:30 AM, while the 10 KM run began at 6:30 AM.

At 6:00 AM, the crowd came alive with an energetic Bhangra performance by Ashley Kaur, Ludhiana’s renowned Bhangra influencer, capturing the essence of Punjab’s cultural vibrancy. As participants crossed the finish line, they were greeted with refreshments and medals, recognizing not just their athleticism, but their commitment to health.

Dr. Chanbir Singh, Medical Director of RG Hospitals, Model Town, Ludhiana, shared, “This marathon isn’t just about running—it’s about building a healthier Punjab. With each stride, our participants are taking a step towards preventive healthcare and community well-being.” Dr. Rajendra Kumar Bansal, Medical Director, RG Hospitals, Ferozepur Road, Ludhiana, remarked, “RG Marathon is not just an event, it's our pledge to make fitness a way of life for Ludhiana.”Adding to the sentiment, Dr. Suman Sethi, Head of Nephrology, said, “Witnessing thousands gather in the name of fitness reaffirms our belief that healthcare goes beyond hospitals. It begins with awareness and action.”

The event also celebrated its Guest of Honor, Milind Soman, India’s iconic fitness ambassador, who inspired the crowd with his presence and message of consistent, mindful fitness. In a special felicitation ceremony at 7:30 AM, he was honored by the hospital leadership, including Dr. Puneet Bansal, Head of Urology, and Dr. Prerna Goel, Deputy Medical Superintendent and Senior Consultant – Internal Medicine. Dr. Goel remarked, “RG Marathon is a celebration of resilience, recovery, and reaching beyond limits. We are proud to host it again in Ludhiana.”

Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor of Punjab Agricultural University was among the Chief Guest  and expressed, “Initiatives like RG Marathon are vital to fostering discipline and positivity in our youth. It brings the city together for a common cause—health.” He was felicitated alongside, Mr. Gurdev Singh, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana,  who was special guest, he commented, “Such events bring synergy between health and education sectors, creating informed and healthier communities.”

The event also honored numerous dignitaries for their unwavering support to the region’s wellness movement, including, and other respected names from medical, administrative, and defense sectors, including Dr. Rishi Gill (Estate Officer PAU),  Roopak Roy (Wing Commander, Indian Air Force) and A Varadhajan (Squadron Leader, Indian Air Force), U Murugan, Private Secretary & Rajendra kumar, Principal Private Secretary from Ministry of Civil Aviation, and Mukesh Kumar, Senior Manager, Airports Authority of India celebrating the spirit of competition, winners of both the 5 KM and 10 KM races were felicitated across male and female categories. Special challenges like the Push-Up Challenge and Lucky Bib Draw added an extra layer of excitement, as participants cheered each other on and celebrated their victories together.

RG Marathon 6.0 wasn’t just a fitness event; it was a movement. A movement that united people across age groups, professions, and fitness levels for a shared cause—health.
