RGC organises annual athletic meet
Ludhiana, March 8, 2022: Annual Athletic Meet was organized at Ramgarhia Girls College. Malkit Singh, Managing Director, Barnala Auto Industries, presided over as Chief Guest and, Paramjit Kaur Sidhu, USA, Former player of the first Softball team of the college, P. U. gold medalist, national gold medalist, entrepreneur, Fair and Glow salon, NY, was the Guest of Honour. Dr. Rajeshwar Pal Kaur, Offg. Principal, Ranjodh Singh, President, Ramgarhia Educational Council and Prof. Rani Kaur of Physical Education Department extended them a cordial welcome.
First, Principal Harmit Kaur Home Science block, named after the former Principal, was inaugurated by the esteemed guests. Former Principal Dr. Narinder Sandhu, and former teachers Prof. Manjeet Kaur Sethi, Prof. Manmohan Kaur Saggu, Prof. Jatinder Kaur Walia also joined to celebrate Women's Day.
Malkit Singh unfurled the flag and took salute from the March Past. About 500 students participated in the meet. The participants of each team were divided into players and non-players. The list of events included 100, 200, 400 and 800 Meter Race, Long Jump, Discus Throw, Javelin Throw, Shot Put, Relay Race in sports category and in non-sports category included events like 50,100,200 Meter Race and Recreational Events like Spoon and Potato Race, the Three-legged race, the Chatti race, Skipping on the spot and Sack Race and Skipping the rope. Virpal Kaur was adjudged the best athlete in sports category and Priyanka in the non-sports category. The chief guest gave away prizes to the students and while quoting the proverb “It’s not about winning and losing, it’s about how you play the game.” he said: “Playing sports not only make us physically fit but also mentally fit, it also teaches how to accept defeats in the field and learn to improve in future performance.”
Dr. Rajeshwar Pal Kaur appreciated Prof. Rani Kaur for organizing the event. She said, “Our athletes have done us proud on many occasions and through this event, even the non-players have got an opportunity to showcase their athletic prowess.”
Ranjodh Singh averred, “Principal Harmit Kaur will always be remembered by all of us and her dedication and enthusiasm towards work will always inspire us. Sports inculcate several qualities in students and prepare them to face the challenges of life. In the competitive scenario of today, it enables them to prove their mettle and face adversities with a smiling face.”
Gurcharan Singh Lotey sent his best wishes to all the winners. Prof.Jaspaul Kaur and Dr. Harbinder Kaur conducted the stage.
