Decision to make a memorial of the singer to be taken after consulting his family: Dharamsot
Khanna: Punjab Forests, Social Justice, Empowerment, Minorities and Printing & Stationery Minister Sadhu Singh Dharmsot on Sunday paid tribute to famous Punjabi Singer Sardool Sikander who passed away on February 24, on behalf of the state government.
Addressing the gathering on the Bhog and Antim Ardas of Sardool Sikander at the grain market, the Minister announced that the road leading from village Bullepur (Khanna) to his house would be named Sardool Sikandar Marg. He also said that to make a memorial of late Singer would also be built as per the wishes of the family.
He said that Sikander was one of his friends and he had met him in the hospital a day before his death. He revealed that we both had a detailed discussion.
He said Sikander was the gem of the Punjabi music industry and told that his death has deeply saddened every Punjabi living in Punjab and abroad and the void left behind by him will be impossible to fill.
While paying tributes to the late singer, Fatehgarh Sahib MP Dr Amar Singh told that Sardool Sikander was born in a poor family but he scaled all heights in classical music. He said that the state government would remain stand with the family of the legendry singer of the Punjabi music industry.
Sharing his heartfelt sympathies with the members of the bereaved family, MP prayed to the almighty to grant eternal peace to the soul and strength to the family.
Khanna MLA Gurkirat Singh Kotli also paid homage to singer Sardool Sikander and said that we feel proud that the latter was a resident of Khanna city and he made the city’s name famous all over the country and the world.
On the occasion, people from all walks of life paid rich tribute to Sikander.
