Roll back power tariff hike in Punjab: Manoranjan Kalia
Reacting to the power tariff hike, BJP National Executive Member and Former Minister Punjab Manoranjan Kalia has said that additional economic burden has been put on consumers who are paying power bills.
Jalandhar, May 15, 2023: Reacting to the power tariff hike, BJP National Executive Member and Former Minister Punjab Manoranjan Kalia has said that additional economic burden has been put on consumers who are paying power bills.
He added the tax slab on electricity rates has been increased to meet the zero bill deficit. He added most regrettable thing is that this hike has been done in summer when the electricity consumption is high.
Kalia said that the increase in electricity rates in Punjab will have a negative impact on the industries of Punjab.
He demanded roll back of this hike with immediate effect.
It may be mentioned here that today the Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission has released the power tariff, applicable from 16th May 2023 up to 31st March 2024. The Government of Punjab has increased the Fixed Charges by Rs.25 per KVA for Small Power and Rs. 20 per KVA for Medium Supply and Rs. 30 per KVA for Large Supply Industrial Consumers. Moreover, the Unit Rates have also been increased by 30 Paisa for Small Power and Medium Supply and 40 Paisa for Large Supply Industrial Consumers.
