Chandigarh, May 18, 2022: Blood pressure of every fourth person in India is high and only 10% of them keep blood pressure under control: By giving up sugar, rice and wheat, our blood pressure is under control in 3 to 6 months.

On World Hypertension Day, Dr. HK Kharbanda, former assistant professor and lifestyle expert of Chandigarh, held a discussion with the Millet Man of India Dr. Khadar Vali on Tuesday. 

Dr Vali said that blood pressure in Indians remain high due to glucose imbalance, although no doctor or scientist discuses it. "Due to the excessive use of sugar, rice and wheat, as soon as our food enters the stomach, along with it there is a flood of carbohydrates in our stomach. Controlling excess glucose release to our body becomes a big problem. That is why obesity, blood pressure and cholesterol increase," said Dr Vali.

He said that 40 out of 100 people have high BP. He further claimed that 10 out of 100 people of 20 years, who come in contact with him suffer with high blood pressure.

"Our biggest enemy is sugar. Week immunity, hormonal imbalance and microbial imbalance are results of sugar intake . By giving up sugar, rice and wheat, our blood pressure gets managed in 3 to 6 months. To get rid of the problem of high BP in India, we should adopt Millets so that our food does not flood the stomach with glucose," added Dr Vali.

He said that there is a general belief that salt and oil increase BP which is wrong. Due to excess salt consumption, only BP patients get high BP. 

Dr. Khadar said that only by giving up sugar, wheat, rice, tobacco, alcohol, we all can avoid non communicable disease which is the biggest cause of death.

He further said that if we want to keep our nerve cells or brain young, that is, we want to keep ourselves young for a long time, then we should make 5 Shridhanya Millets as our staple food and let our nerve cells remain younger for years together.
