RS 1905 LAKH financial assistance to farmers: DC Roojam

Hoshiarpur/Jalandhar, July 25, 2013: Punjab Government has provided Rs 1,905 lakh financial assistance to farmers in the district under various sponsored schemes to agriculture production.

Disclosing this here today, the Hoshiarpur deputy commissioner Varun Roojam said that Rs 1,803 lakh has been provided to increase wheat production under food safety mission and Rs 66 lakh for increase Pulse production. He said that other than this Rs.36 lakh were given under micro management works scheme.

Deputy Commissioner said that certified of wheat seed costing Rs.654 lakh was distributed to farmers increase production. He said that to fulfill the deficiency of chemical elements of soil in the area of 87,000 hectares Rs.505 lakh feed was released to farmers. He added that Rs. 177 lakh given to farmers to sow wheat with zero till machines and Rs. 438 lakh were spent for providing rotavators, spray pumps, multi crop plant, wheat drilling machines and laser levellers etc to farmers.

DC said that certified seed costing Rs 4.20 lakh is provided to the farmers in the district to promote pulse cultivation and Rs. 4 lakh seed provided to enhance the fertility of soil in 800 hectare area. Rs. 36 lakh were provided for other 264 type of agriculture implements.
