In his press note to the media Bali said, “It is absolutely a matter of pride for all Himachalis. The GI tag is an important certification which recognises the origin of the tea produced in Kangra Valley.”
EU Foodand farming (an European commission directorate for agriculture) has indicated it in its face book account.
Bali said, “Since the middle of the 19th century, black tea and green tea have both been cultivated in the Kangra Valley. The production is extensive in Palampur and Dharamshala sub divisions. Kangra tea is renowned for its distinctive taste and colour. The green tea has a subtle woody aroma, while black tea has a sweet, lasting aftertaste.”
