Rural women completed skills training on bakery products
Punjab Agricultural Management & Extension Training Institute (PAMETI), in association with Department of Food and Nutrition, PAU organized a three-day skill training program for rural women on “Bakery Products” under the centrally sponsored government scheme Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna (RKVY). A total of 23 participants from in and around Ludhiana attended this training programme.
Ludhiana, January 9, 2024: Punjab Agricultural Management & Extension Training Institute (PAMETI), in association with Department of Food and Nutrition, PAU organized a three-day skill training program for rural women on “Bakery Products” under the centrally sponsored government scheme Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna (RKVY). A total of 23 participants from in and around Ludhiana attended this training programme.
Dr. K.B Singh, Director PAMETI while inaugurating the training programme revealed that the objective of this training programme is to equip rural women with skills and knowledge to prepare high-quality bakery products so they can pursue for successful career in bakery industry. Dr. Kiran Grover, Professor and Head, Department of Food and Nutrition, PAU said that participants would get hands-on experience in creating mouth-watering bakery treats such as preparation of cakes, muffins, doughnuts, brownie, different types of cookies and breads.
Faculty from Department of Food and Nutrition, PAU conducted various practical sessions at their Experiential Learning Unit and guided them scientifically at every step of preparation process. Dr. Poonam Bakhetia, alongwith Dr. Sehajveer Kaur and Ms. Dayadeep Kaur gave demonstration on preparation of cakes, muffins, doughnuts and brownies. Practical sessions on preparation of different types of cookies and breads were conducted by Dr. Shikha Mahajan and Ms. Khushpreet Kaur respectively. Apart from practical sessions, Manjeet Kaur, a women entrepreneur shared her journey with participants from training to become a successful entrepreneur and also demonstrated the decoration of cakes with different techniques of icing. Dr. Sonika Sharma guided the participants regarding packaging and labeling of different bakery products. Dr. Rupinder Kaur, Deputy Director-HRM and training coordinator motivated the women participants towards group formation, so they can get benefit from various government schemes.
The participants wholeheartedly appreciated the program and shared their positive feedback. They expressed that they have learnt a lot and could not wait to apply these bakery techniques furthermore.
