RV University Welcomes New Cohort with Inauguration Programme
RV University, a new-age global university for liberal education, hosted its fourth annual inauguration function on Friday, 2 August 2024, welcoming a new cohort of students into its diverse range of undergraduate programmes. The event celebrated the enrollment of students across its seven schools, including the School of Business, School of Economics, School of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Design and Innovation, School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, School of Law and School of Film, Media and Creative Arts.
Bengaluru, 2 August 2024: RV University, a new-age global university for liberal education, hosted its fourth annual inauguration function on Friday, 2 August 2024, welcoming a new cohort of students into its diverse range of undergraduate programmes. The event celebrated the enrollment of students across its seven schools, including the School of Business, School of Economics, School of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Design and Innovation, School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, School of Law and School of Film, Media and Creative Arts.
The day-long inauguration featured morning and evening sessions with eminent speakers from the business and academic communities, reflecting RV University's dedication to bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world application.
Dr. Niranjan Kalyandurg, President of Honeywell Technology Solutions India, Europe and Mexico, graced the event as the Chief Guest for the morning session, emphasising the university's focus on technological innovation and global perspectives in education. He emphasized to develop a problem-solving mindset and to be curious. “Your education should go beyond academics – cultivate confidence, practice leadership, and step out of your comfort zone. As future global citizens, focus on effective communication and appreciate diversity," added Kalyandurg.
Dr. Sreenath Narayanaiah, Managing Director of Merck Life Science India and Sigma Aldrich Chemicals Pvt. Ltd. was the Chief Guest for the evening session. In his address, Dr. Narayanaiah spoke about the importance of interdisciplinary learning and the need for adaptability in a rapidly changing world.
Dr. (h.c.) A.V.S. Murthy, Chancellor of RV University, presided over the morning session. In his presidential address, Dr. Murthy highlighted the university's commitment to providing a holistic education that prepares students to excel in an interconnected world. The evening session was presided by Dr. M.P. Shyam, President of RVU’s sponsoring body, Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust (RSST).
During the event, RV University honoured top students with merit scholarships, recognising their academic achievements and potential. The induction also featured vibrant cultural performances by current students, offering newcomers a glimpse of the university's dynamic campus life. These activities underscored RV University's commitment to both academic excellence and creative expression, highlighting the well-rounded experience awaiting the new students.
Prof. Y. S. R. Murthy, Vice Chancellor of RV University, highlighted the institution's commitment to innovation and transformative education in his address. He emphasised the university's immersive and collaborative learning approach, which encourages students to explore diverse disciplines and challenge established knowledge through critical and imaginative thinking. "At RV University, we believe in empowering our students with a well-rounded education, instilling in them the confidence to excel on the global stage," remarked Prof. Murthy. "Our ongoing pursuit of quality in teaching, research, community engagement, and capacity building is dedicated to creating a better future for our students and society. Additionally, our focus on international and national collaborations ensures that our students benefit from a diverse and global perspective, preparing them to succeed in an interconnected world."
A week-long orientation programme will follow from 5 August to 9 August. This orientation will allow students to understand more about the university, their schools, and their programmes. The first two days will feature university-level sessions, followed by school-specific sessions on 7 and 8 August. On 9 August, the RVU Santhe, an academic fair, will showcase the student clubs, various majors and minors offered by different schools, and university-level electives. This week-long affair will offer an opportunity for students to know more about RVU, its faculty, their peers, and seniors. The inauguration ceremony for B.Tech. programme students will be held post the KEA/KCET admissions. /02/08
