Sacred Heart Golden Jubilee celebrations conclude with promise of greater excellence, perfection
Ludhiana, November 17, 2014: The two day dazzling and scintillating ‘Golden Fiesta’, to mark the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar here concluded with a promise of much greater excellence and perfection in the field of education.
The Principal Sister Chantel promised that the school and the society will continue to serve in the field of education with greater excellence and perfection the school is reputed about saying it believed it still had a long way to go.
Punjab Education Minister Dr Daljit Singh Cheema was the Chief Guest and R J Khanderao, Regional Officer, CBSE, Panchkula and Ishwar Singh IPS, Director, Punjab State Narcotics Control Bureau were the Guests of Honour. Popular film actress Divya Dutta an alumnus of the school was the special guest.
The dazzling light and sound show presented by the students was scientifically themed with a symbolic rocket prototype symbolising the launch of the school that is moving in the orbit with great success and excellence. It also provided small skits about the suffering of women.
The event also traced the history of the Sacred Heart Convent School with the Bethany sisters, who arrived from Bangalore in 1965 braving all odds including the harsh weather and the turmoil caused by Pakistani bombing in the neighbouring Halwara air base.
Sister Chantel who guided the spectacular event along with team of other sisters and teachers thanked the students and their parents for making the school as it stands today. She said,during the last fifty years of its existence the School has intertwined itself with the city’s DNA. She said, the school inherits a proud tradition having contributed immensely to Ludhiana’s academic life which in turn enriched each and every aspect. 
There are thousands and thousands of students who have passed out of this school during the last five decades, she said, adding, they have done outstandingly well in various walks of life. Be it in medicine, engineering, law, civil services, business, arts or any other field, you will find Sacred Heart connection everywhere, remarked the principal.
On this occasion recorded messages from the past students who have done exceedingly well in life and career, were played from different corners of the world.
Education Minister Dr Cheema lauded the outstanding contribution of the school towards education and development of the city. He said, education was the way to welfare and empowerment and the Sacred Heart Convent School had served its motto to the best of its abilities and the expectations of the people.
On the first day of the celebrations last evening, Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner, Rajat Aggarwal in a thought provoking address to the students, teachers and the parents, asked them to always remember to say ‘no’ to four Ds, which he explained as ‘drugs’, ‘dirt’, ‘dowry’ and ‘driving without licence’. He urged the parents present to get more involved with their children as they were their best teachers.
