SAD will move resolution demanding action against Gandhi family and Tytler in forthcoming assembly session: Badal

Asks CM to reduce State VAT on petrol and diesel by Rs 10 per liter immediately

Ludhiana, November 5, 2021: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal today announced the SAD would move a resolution in the forthcoming Vidhan Sabha session demanding action against the Gandhi family at whose instance the 1984 genocide was conducted as well as arrest of Jagdish Tytler and other Congressmen responsible for it.

Addressing a press conference here along with victims of the 1984 carnage, the SAD President said SAD legislators would move the resolution in the special assembly session being held on November 8 and that he was hopeful that it would be passed unanimously. He said even though the role of the Gandhi family had been well documented and it was clear that it had orchestrated the attack on Sikhs and their properties in November, 1984 no action had been taken against them. “This needs to be corrected”, he said besides demanding the immediate arrest of Jagdish Tytler and other Congressmen allegedly involved in the massacre.

Mr Badal also asked chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi as well as the Punjab Congress leadership to clear its stand on Tytler’s appointment to a top Congress panel. “They should tell Punjabis why they supported this appointment”.

The SAD President also asked the chief minister to immediately reduce State VAT on petrol and diesel by Rs 10 per liter each. He said the chief minister was on record of having said that the treasury was full. “In this case he should not have any problem in affecting an immediate reduction in State VAT on petrol and diesel on the same pattern as done by the centre and various other State governments”.

Mr Badal also announced at the press conference that the next
SAD-BSP government would form a Katleaam Peerat Welfare Board to address the grievances of refugees who had migrated to the State after systematic targeting of Sikhs in 1984. He said the Board would be given sufficient funds to address all issues of the refugees. He also assured Danga Peerat association president Surjit Singh that the next government would look into all their issues including those of housing sympathetically.  SGPC President Bibi Jagir Kaur was also present on the occasion.

While paying his respects Vishkarma ji, Mr Badal announced that the next SAD- BSP government would constitute the Baba Vishkarma ji Skill University to impart technical training to the youth to make them employable in the industrial sector.

When queried about Pradesh Congress president Navjot Sidhu, the SAD President said the former was a misguided missile and could not be trusted. “No one can trust Sidhu”, he added. When asked about Transport minister Raja Warring, Mr Badal said the former was acting in a vindictive manner against Akali leaders even as he was not taking any action against any Congress bus operator.

Mr Badal attended the bhog ceremony of Path being held at Gurdwara Sri Singh Sabha, Dugri. During the day, he also attended Vishkarma Day celebration at different places in the city.

Mr Badal also appointed Ludhiana based industrialist Gurmeet Singh Kular as  Advisor on Industrial Affairs to the SAD President

Other senior leaders present at various functions included Maheshinder Grewal, Harish Rai Dhanda, Hira Singh Gabria, Gurmeet Singh Kular, Hari Singh Preet and Vijay Danav.
