Sahit Sabha organises at GKU on birthday of Baba Sheikh Farid

Talwandi Sabo, September 23, 2014: On the eve of birthday of Baba Sheikh Farid, a Sahit Sabha was organised in Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo to make the students aware of the rich Punjabi Culture & to pass it on to the next generation.
Among the students Jagsir Singh was elected as President, Amandeep Kaur Vice President, Veerpal Kaur General Secretary and Karandeep & Ramandeep Kaur designated as Cashier of this Sabha. Dr Balwant Singh Sandhu (Associate Professor) Department of Punjabi will be Convener.    
Dr. Jagwinder Singh Jodha HoD Punjabi Department stated that Baba Farid was not only the Sufi Saint Fakir, He is also 1st authentic Punjabi Poet. While sharing Baba Farid’s Literary and religious contribution Dr. Jodha said that we can make our life rich and happy with moral and spiritual values by following the thoughts of great Sufi poet Baba Farid.
Dr. N.S. Malhi, Vice Chancellor lauded the efforts of Punjabi Dept. for this Sahit Sabha and said that the learning of Baba Farid can shape the students for their holistic development. This will also lead us towards the better meant of the society, he added.
Satish Goswami, Registrar and Dr. Ram Niwas Deputy Dean were also present on this occasion to motivate the students.
