Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s love story is one of the most famous love stories of the 90’s. On the Koffee couch, Saif Ali Khan and Sharmila Tagore reveal details about how the two got married without telling anybody.

 
Talking about it, Karan Johar asked, “There is one place Saif reached and he never left. It was Amrita Singh’s house. He reached there for the first time and apparently that was it. You stayed back.”
 

Opening up about the same, Sharmila Tagore said, “Actually, I was visiting Mumbai for something. Saif came to meet me and said, I have something to tell you and then he told me. I don't know what I was doing, but I was quiet. He said, Amma , your color is changing, you are looking different. I said, well okay, we will talk about it later, not now. Then of course, after he left, I rang up Tiger and told him and  there was long silence on that part. Then we left it at that, and I told him that I would like to meet her and then we went out. I liked her. She was nice. They said, we don't want to tell anybody, we want to keep it quiet for a little while.
 

“They were very supportive, considering I was 20 years old, ran off and got married without telling anyone. It is not a nice thing to do to your parents.” added Saif Ali Khan
 

“Since he had given me a heads up and since I had met Amrita, then they came over and we welcomed her. She met my mother in law, so that’s how it happened”, revealed Sharmila Tagore
 

Curiously, Karan Johar asked, “But how does one just suddenly get married at that age? How do you look back at it?”
 

“You know, it was kind of running away from home in a sense.  I don't remember, with so many things going on, I found a kind of security and an idea that this was safe. This feels great and I thought I could make a home out of it.” replied Saif Ali Khan
 

Adding to it, Sharmila Tagore said, “Both of them were funny. When they talked, there was a lot of laughter, a lot of mimicking other people, tearing somebody into bits in a funny way. He is good at mimicry and she is a great storyteller. So, they looked very happy together.”
