Ferozepur, February 3, 2013: The businessmen in alleged connivance with the railways are transporting their goods without any authentic billing and once again the Sales Department has started keeping an eye on Ferozepur-Mumbai Janta Express.
In the past also, the Sales Department has seized hundreds of bundles from the railway station without bill and putting a great loss to the government.
On Saturday, the Sales Tax Department suddenly made a raid at Ferozepur Cantt railway station and seized goods worth lakhs of rupees.
As per the information given by Ranjit Singh, ETO, Jalandhar Wing Branch, an information was received by him that goods worth lakhs of rupees are being transported on Janta Express.
He further said that about 28 bundles were seized containing electrical and other goods and Rs.40,000 were fined on the spot for 12 bundles while the rest of the bundles were seized and taken from Ferozepur to Jalandhar.
