Sales Tax department find anomalies in the tax paying of a cafe, after customer uploads bill under Bill Layo Inam Pao scheme
Under the guidance of the DCST Ludhiana 3, Smt Darvir Raj Kaur a team of ACST Ludhiana 3 comprising of state tax officers and supporting staff who have been informed of the billing done by a Cafe located in Gokul enclave , Ludhiana, named “Elizabeth-3”, have conducted an inspection on the basis of the Bill Layo Inam Pao scheme, where consumers have uploaded the bills from that cafe.
Ludhiana, January 8, 2024: Under the guidance of the DCST Ludhiana 3, Smt Darvir Raj Kaur a team of ACST Ludhiana 3 comprising of state tax officers and supporting staff who have been informed of the billing done by a Cafe located in Gokul enclave , Ludhiana, named “Elizabeth-3”, have conducted an inspection on the basis of the Bill Layo Inam Pao scheme, where consumers have uploaded the bills from that cafe.
The department immediately sprung into action after detecting that the dealer has not been has not been paying any taxes since the last more than six months.
Scrutiny of returns have been carried on by the department based on the information uploaded by the general public, resulting in curbing tax evasion and plugging revenue leakage. It is an ongoing hand-in-hand exercise of the public and the department.
‘Bill Layo Inam Pao’ is an exclusive initiative by the Punjab government to encourage the people to collect bills from dealers after purchase of goods. The objective of the scheme is to encourage consumers to collect bills from dealers while purchasing goods. This scheme is helpful for making the consumers aware to get the bill from the dealers at the time of the purchase. It has been proven helpful for the department of GST, also for the ripple effect of the scheme that has led to raise in the billing and eventually the State Taxes. It is a win-win situation for both the consumers and the government.
