‘Salute to Real Heroes’ function held in Doaba College
Doaba College Jalandhar was soaked in patriotic fervor as its Disha Committee, in association with Hawk Riders Club, organized an Honoring Ceremony entitled, ‘Salute to Real Heroes’ dedicated to Kargil Vijay Diwas. M. F. Farooqui, ADGP, Punjab Armed Police, was the Chief Guest of the occasion.
Jalandhar, July 27, 2023: Doaba College Jalandhar was soaked in patriotic fervor as its Disha Committee, in association with Hawk Riders Club, organized an Honoring Ceremony entitled, ‘Salute to Real Heroes’ dedicated to Kargil Vijay Diwas. M. F. Farooqui, ADGP, Punjab Armed Police, was the Chief Guest of the occasion.
The event began with a lamp lighting ceremony by the Chief Guest, Dr. Pardeep Bhandari, Principal, Doaba College, Rohit Sharma, Hawk Riders, Dr. Ominder Johal, Prof. Sukhwinder Singh and Dr. Suresh Mago, Co-ordinators of the event.
The Chief Guest and the Guests of Honour S.C. Khindra, father of the late Lieutenant Sachin Khindra, Rajinder Pal Singh, brother of late RFN Nastinder Pal Singh, Ravi Dada, father of the late Major Raman Dada, Captain Anjali Sekhari, sister of the late Major Raman Dada, Dr. Shabnam Sharma, Sharma Eye Hospital Jalandhar, were given a floral welcome by the Principal, faculty members, NCC Cadets and the students of the college.
Dr. Pradeep Bhandari, in his welcome address, extolled the virtues of the legendary heroes of the Kargil War and paid them an emotional tribute. He motivated the cadets to follow their exemplary patriotic spirit and persistent efforts to safeguard the interests of the nation.
Rohit Sharma gave details of the responsibility to protect the Statues of the Martyrs. The Chief Guest and the families of the Martyrs were then honoured with momentos to pay homage to the Martyrs of the battle and celebrate their heroism. The members of their families also thanked Doaba College Jalandhar for the honour in their speeches.
In his Presidential address, the Chief Guest, M. F. Farooqui spoke about the importance of this historic day in Indian history to commemorate the Indian victory over Pakistan in the Kargil War and encouraged the students to serve their motherland. He emphasized the major challenges that need to be addressed by the youth. He motivated the students to inculcate the values of discipline, dedication, self- introspection, for the betterment of society. He also highlighted the need for an inclusive educational policy and reviewed educational curriculum for the progress of the nation.
The event culminated with a vote of thanks by Prof. Sukhwinder Singh. Prof. Priya Chopra conducted the stage.
