SAMPARK Program in Khanna to Combat Drug Menace

Khanna (Ludhiana), March 2, 2025: In a resolute step towards making Punjab drug-free, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khanna, Dr Jyoti Yadav Bains addressed the media about the successful launch of the SAMPARK program by Punjab Police in Khanna on Sunday under the directions of DGP Punjab, Gaurav Yadav IPS, ADGP, Naunihal Singh IPS & DIG, Nilambari Vijay Jagdale IPS, Ludhiana Range, Ludhiana. This initiative aims to strengthen community outreach and curb the menace of drugs across the region.

As part of the SAMPARK program, Khanna Police conducted approximately 45 interactive meetings with Village Defence Committees (VDCs), Sarpanches, villagers, and other key stakeholders, covering around 60 villages and engaging over 2,500-3,000 people. The meetings focused on raising awareness about the Punjab Government’s mission, Yudh Nashya Virudh (War Against Drugs), and encouraging the public to play an active role in eradicating the drug problem by sharing actionable information about drug peddlers and addicts.

During these interactions, SSP Khanna emphasized the Punjab Police’s unwavering commitment to dismantling drug networks and rehabilitating those affected by addiction. The villagers were motivated to collaborate with law enforcement agencies and report suspicious activities to aid the ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking.

The local community expressed their appreciation for the Punjab Government, particularly the Punjab Police, for their recent intensified efforts and successful operations against drug peddlers over the past few days. The villagers lauded the proactive approach and visible results of these initiatives.

In a bid to address the root causes of drug addiction and prevent the youth from falling prey to this menace, suggestions were also sought from the villagers. Valuable inputs were received on promoting sports and education as effective tools for the rehabilitation of drug addicts and as preventive measures to steer young people away from drugs.

SSP Khanna added, “We are committed to not only cracking down on drug peddlers but also ensuring rehabilitation and prevention through community-driven efforts.”

The Punjab Police remains steadfast in its mission to create a drug-free Punjab and urges citizens to join hands in this collective fight against drugs.
