Sangrur administration sets up coronavirus safety station
Will use similar stations at grain markets during wheat procurement season: Ghanshyam Thori
Sangrur: Sangrur district administration installed a coronavirus safety station at local administrative complex as a pilot project and similar stations would also be at grain market which will sanitise the farmers, commission agents, laborers, administrative officials during the wheat procurement season. While divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Ghanshyam Thori said that wheat arrival in grain markets is expected from April 10 and Sangrur contributes more than 10 percent wheat share in Punjab's basket. He added that in view of the heavy footfall in the grain markets, it becomes necessary to ensure the safety of farmers and others who are involved in this process.
Mr. Ghanshyam Thori said that the coronavirus security station would sanitise the person in four steps and first of all an infrared thermal scanner would record the temperature of the person passing through it. He added that the person having higher body temperature than normal, then he or she would be immediately sent to flu centre established at civil hospital. He said that in the second step, a wash basin has been installed for washing hands and taps installed are operational with feet.
DC said that in the third step, the person will be treated with concentrated sodium hypochlorite solution by spraying the mixture on his body with the help of tiny sprinklers. He said that in the last stage, a booth has been established with ceiling fan facility and hand dryers. He added that the hands and clothes will be dried without using any towel as use of towel by multiple persons could also increase the risk of contamination. Mr. Thori said that District Revenue Officer (DRO) Gagandeep Singh has been appointed incharge of this project.
