Chandigarh, September 20, 2012: The State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Punjab directed to State Bank of India, Hoshiarpur to  pay the complainant Rs. 24,056 along with interest @ 9% annum from the date of withdrawl of the said amount.

The complainant would also be entitled to Rs. 5,000 as cost of litigation.

Disclosing this here today the spokesman of the Punjab Government said that the complainant Sashi Bhusan Gupta, resident of Hoshiarpur having a saving bank account with state bank of india, Hoshiarpur and was issued an ATM card. He found that a sum of Rs. 32,940 had been unauthorisedly withdrawn from his account through five transactions made through ATM. He immediately approached the bank and his ATM facility was blocked but after that a sum of Rs. 13,028 and Rs.11,028 have been unauthorisedly withdrawn through the ATM. then He lodged the complaint before State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Punjab.

The spokesman said that after hearing both the parties the Commission found negligence from the side of SBI and Commission directed to the bank to  pay the complainant  Rs. 24,056 alongwith interest @ 9% annum from the date of withdrawl of the said amount. The complainant would also be entitled to Rs. 5,000 as cost of litigation.
