SBS Nagar to get first mohalla clinic on August 15 under first phase
Health Department identifies site for mohalla clinic in Nawanshahr Constituency
Nawanshahr, May 27, 2022: The Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district is set to get its first ‘Mohalla Clinic’ in Nawanshahr constituency on August 15 when Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann would kick-start first phase of the flagship health program by dedicating 75 such clinics in throughout the state.
The health department has already identified the site (approximately 400-square yards) adjoining Doaba Arya Senior Secondary School Nawanshahr and sent a proposal of Rs 5 lakh to the headquarters for renovation works of the building.
Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa said that renovation works of building would start soon in Nawanshahr constituency so that Mohalla Clinic can start operating from August 15. He told that team of engineers from Punjab Health System Corporation has already sent the proposal to high-ups and funds would be released soon by the government.
NPS Randhawa said that work of shifting some electric poles near the site would begin within a week.
Deputy Commissioner said that ‘Mohalla Clinic’ program is ambitious health program of Punjab Government to offer quality medical services to the people near their localities. He said that Mohalla clinics would have doctor's room, reception-cum-waiting area, blood sample collection facility and pharmacy.
Further, he told that suitable locations in Banga and Balachaur have also been identified by the health department.
Civil Surgeon Dr Davinder Dhanda said that building structure is already available at Nawanshahr’s site and health department would complete renovation works in a time-bound manner.
