Scholarship students make Stonehill proud

Bangalore, July 7, 2022: Stonehill’s International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) scores have remained comfortably above the world average now for the tenth consecutive year.  Stonehill students have once again outdone themselves with a 100% pass rate.

The average IB score for Stonehill students was 34 points against a global average of 31.98  points with the two Valedictorians, Anushka Singh and Kalidas Vinod, achieving outstanding scores of 44 points each. Four students were awarded Bilingual Diplomas in Dutch, Japanese and German.

Of the forty three students enrolled for the Diploma Programme, 19 students (44%) scored 35 points and above. Six students (14%) scored 40 points or more, which puts them amongst the world’s top 8% of IB students. Besides Anushka and Kalidas, students who scored above 40 were Veona Cutinho, Aum Raithatha, Liv Karreby, Rohan Dilip.

Three of the above-mentioned students, Anushka, Veona and Aum were selected for Stonehill's Scholarship Programme. Stonehill launched its scholarship programme in November 2014, with the aim of fostering and celebrating academic and sporting achievements.

Anushka Singh, Valedictorian, joined Stonehill in grade 10 via the scholarship programme which aided her in achieving her academic goals. She is now headed to the University of Cambridge, UK, to study English Literature. She says, “I realised what it means to be more invested in the process of learning than in the end result. I was never told to stop asking questions, no matter how far outside of the syllabus they were.”

Our scholarship students received offers from the world’s top universities. Veona Cutinho is headed to Michigan State University, US to study Molecular Biology and Genetics, Aum Raithatha will be going to University of Leeds, UK to study Accounting and Finance and Shreyes Sridhara will be studying Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at University of California, Berkeley, US.

Stonehill students have received top grades (7/7) in all IB Diploma Programme subjects offered at the school this year, including less common subjects like Mandarin and Theatre, which demonstrates the quality of instruction across a broad range of academic disciplines at the school.

Joe Lumsden, Deputy Head of School and Secondary School Principal commented, “We would like to congratulate all of our students and teachers on these excellent results. Considering the uncertainties that this batch has experienced over the past two years, I am impressed with their commitment and dedication. The fact that we have also achieved a 100% pass rate in a school which encourages almost all students to take the full IB Diploma is strong evidence of the drive and determination of all of our faculty to ensure that all students at our school succeed."
