School of Design and Innovation organises fashion show ‘Mayassar 21-22’ at CT University
Samson Komekar remains Designer of the year
Ludhiana, June 3, 2022: Department of Fashion Design, School of Design and Innovation, CT University, organized a Fashion Show titled ‘Mayassar 21-22” The Designers Collection.
The event started with a lighting ceremony, and preceded with the Academic Student designers’ collection one by one on a theme based designer collection of 4 outfits each. Themes were like Barba (feathers), Mycophile (mushrooms), Shankh (Shells), Queen of Jungle, Corals and Fungi, beyond retro, light lanterns, Glitteract (glitters plus abstract) etc. A total of 11 budding designers of the fashion design department from the last year of their academics took part in the event and showcased their creativity through customization.
Students on their respective themes created textures and patterns using tie and dye, ruffles, pleating, structured garments, showing the radio and gramophone effects, using real feathers and making feathers using fabric manipulations, using fairy lights in dresses and accessories and much more. The whole process from preparing an inspiration board from scratch to final show was done by students itself within a time span of 2 months. Judgment of the show was done by Dr. Surabhi Mahajan, Assistant Professor Apparel and Textile dept., PAU, Ludhiana; Muskan Gaba, Fashion Designer, Ludhiana and Jasvinder Kaur, Coordinator of School of Design and Innovation.
The guests of honor for the event were Dr Harsh Sadawarti, Vice-Chancellor, CT University and Deputy Dean Academic, CTU, Dr Umesh Grag. Makeup and Hairstyling was sponsored by Orane Raikot.
The designer of the year was awarded to Samson Komekar (theme- Queen of Jungle), 1st runner up was Varinda Gupta (theme- Glitteract) and 2nd runner up remained Poonam Rani (theme- Gunja seeds).
The event was successfully organized by Jasvinder Kaur, COS, SODAI, Kumari Medha, Tanisha Narula, Gurdeep Singh of Department of Fashion Designing and the faculty of Fine Arts, Multimedia and animation.
Dr Harsh Sadawarti, Vice-Chancellor, CT University said that fashion is at the peak of the demand of today’s era as it gives a good impact and in case we are dressing in the latest style, fashion ends up being essential.
