School of Law CT University organises “The Scamnum”
Intra School Moot Court Competition
Ludhiana, July 19, 2022: CT University, Ludhiana, Punjab organized the Intra School Moot Court Competition 2022, “THE SCAMNUM” for polishing the young minds with a legal skillset. Moot Court Competitions provide budding lawyers an opportunity to test their skills for Professional competence.
The Moot Court Sessions consist of a series of legal challenges on areas of law and their development in an academically constituted court. It creates an environment where students can assume the courtroom responsibilities.
Students enthusiastically participated in the first day of intra school moot court competition, “THE SCAMNUM” and given the opportunity, a total of 15 teams participated in the event. The Moot proposition was based on Constitutional Law. Out of 15 teams, 4 teams qualified for the semi-finals and 2 were selected for the final round.
The final round was judged by a panel consisting of Principal School of Law Dr Simranjeet Kaur Gill, Dr Divya Khurana and Raminder Singh.
Principal Dr Simranjeet Kaur Gill apprised the participants with the working of courts. She also spoke about the conduct of lawyers. Dr Gill, in her address, dwelled upon the importance of learning through Moot Court competitions. “While winning an event motivates, losing disheartens but gives an opportunity to participants to learn from defeat.” She further advised students to shun baser instincts and to inculcate sublime values of compassion and empathy to be successful in their lives. She also emphasized on the importance of the ‘emotional quotient’.
The Trophy was Lifted by the Students of TC-09- Vishwas Vaid, Vineet Jain & Tanveer Kalsi of B.A.,LL.B. 1st year and Students of TC- 03- Priyanka & Parul of B.A.,LL.B. 3rd year won the runner-up Trophy. Vishwas Vaid was adjudged as best Mooter.
Dr Simranjeet Kaur Gill extended vote of thanks. She eulogized the efforts of the Moot Court Committee in conducting the event.
