Chandigarh: An Online National Workshop on "Science in Action-Series I" was organized to introduce science students to MANAV-The Human Atlas Initiative of DBT, New Delhi. Dr. Anupma Harshal, Consultant, IISER, Pune spoke about "How to read scientific literature" in the three day event organized jointly by Department of Biochemistry, Panjab University, Chandigarh and Department of Food Science, MCM DAV College Chandigarh.
More than 650 participants from all across the country are participating in this interactive workshop where they are learning to contribute to creation of a unified database of molecular networks of tissues in the human body. "This is a very encouraging activity related to science awareness, dissemination, communication and application for society engagement in this unique initiative of DBT, New Delhi", Professor Archana Bhatnagar, Chairperson, Department of Biochemistry, Panjab University commented. Dr. Nisha Bhargava, Principal, MCM DAV drew an interesting parallel with traditional scriptures by quoting the activity as "From Khandprastha to Indraprastha". The citizen led initiative inspired me to start this series of workshops, involving a variety of strata of participants, felt Dr. Geeta Mehra, Head, Department of Food Science, MCM DAV, Chandigarh.
