Second Annual Function 'Ankur’ at Horizon School Of Excellence

The second Annual Day Of Horizon School of Excellence, Ankur, was organized in the school’s open-air amphitheatre. Ludhiana, February 10, 2025: The second Annual Day Of Horizon School of Excellence, Ankur, was organized in the school’s open-air amphitheatre. Horizon School Of Excellence is a unique initiative by Nehru Sidhant Kender Trust and Shri Gow Rakshni Sabha that provides quality education to children from socio-economically disadvantaged sections of society.

Ankur, meaning "a sprouting seed," is a metaphor for growth, transformation, and resilience. Just as a seed progresses from a tiny, dormant form to a vibrant new plant, it mirrors the human experience of overcoming obstacles and embracing new beginnings in life.

Bipin Gupta, Vice Chairman of the school extended a warm and "green" welcome to the chief guest, Rakesh Bharti Mittal, founder and Chairman of Horizon School of Excellence. The first student of the school, Khushi, was the Guest of Honour. The event was graced by trustees and members of Nehru Sidhant Kender Trust, as well as members of the school's Advisory Council.

An enchanting Swagatam dance was presented by students from Grade 3 to welcome the esteemed guests and parents.

The event was organized around the theme of Ankur, symbolizing growth, transformation, and resilience in the face of challenges. The function began with the lamp-lighting ceremony, invoking the blessings of God, followed by Harit Kriti, a green initiative. In this segment, Shri Rakesh Bharti Mittal and the Guest of Honour Khushi, planted tree saplings.

Rakesh Bharti Mittal, in his address to the gathering, highlighted the importance of value-based education in today’s fast-growing world and stressed the significance of educating the girl child. He also spoke about the scholarships available to deserving students with financial constraints, enabling them to pursue higher education.

The school’s second annual report was presented by staff members Amrit and Deepa. Students Kamakshi and Himiksha from Class 3 compered the event, discussing the process of sprouting (Ankur) as a metaphor for growth in every living being’s life.

Students of Pravesh Vatika and class 1 contributed to the theme with their poem recital, “Main Ankur Hoon”. Students of Upvan gave a dance performance showcasing determination and strength. Grade 1 students presented a qawwali on the country’s development, followed by a dance performance. Grade 2 students showcased a song and dance performance, inciting strength and resilience in each one of us. Grade 3 students performed a thought-provoking mime on water conservation and a dance performance on the five elements of life.

The event concluded with a vibrant, foot-tapping Grand Finale, “Jashn-e-Punjab,” performed by Pravesh Vatika and Grade 3 students, full of energetic Punjabi flavour.

Principal Jasdeep Kaur proposed a Vote of Thanks to the esteemed guests.

Towards the end of the program, Rakesh Bharti Mittal and Bipin Gupta interacted with the parents, fostering a sense of community and encouraging continued support.
