Second randomization of EVMs held in presence of General Observer
The second round of randomisation of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) was held in the presence of representatives of various political parties at the District Administrative Complex.
Ludhiana, May 20, 2024: The second round of randomisation of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) was held in the presence of representatives of various political parties at the District Administrative Complex.
The exercise was held under the supervision of General Observer Divya Mittal, IAS and District Election Officer Sakshi Sawhney.
District Election Officer Sakshi Sawhney said that a total of 2,921 polling booths would be set up in the assembly constituencies of the district on which EVMs, as well as VVPAT machines, would be installed based on the number of this allocation. EVMs and VVPAT machines at par with the number of polling booths were randomised today, and additional Control Units, Ballot Units, and VVPATs were also kept on reserve that can be used in case of any machine malfunctions.
Sawhney further explained that randomization of EVMs carried out ahead of fixing the names and symbols of 43 candidates in fray in Ludhiana parliamentary constituency and NOTA. Based on the numbers allotted after the randomisation, the EVMs would be sent to the polling booths.
The representatives of various political parties were also shown the randomisation process of EVM and VVPAT machines.
